On Oct 29th, 2010, Rogers Wu, Jin Mao EHS lawyer, together with Prof. Wan Canfa, well-known environment scholar from China University of Political Sciences and Law, conducted the speech and training at the workshop on Tort Liability Law organized by Association of International Chemical Manufactures (AICM).
With the effectiveness of Tort Liability Law on July 1st 2010, more attention is paid for MNCs. To help MNCs understand the grasp the key points of this law, AICM organized this workshop and more than 40 leadership, EHS management and legal personnel participated this one-day workshop coming from famous MNCs including EXXonMobil, Dow Chemical, Bayer, AkzoNobel, DSM, PPG, Air Product, BP, SABIC, Wacker, Cognis, Lanxess, Celanese, etc.
Mr. Rogers Wu has more than ten years’ experiences at the EHS management and legal service area. He is very familiar with the EHS laws/regulations and standards as well the implementation. His speech focuses on the causality proof of environmental pollution, relationship between compensation of on-job injury and tort liability, the tort liability of highly dangerous activities and substances, EHS laws and regulations impact to the Tort Liability Law, etc. Several real cases are shared at the workshop and the practical proposal is made as well to minimize and/or migrate the risk of tort liability.
AICM is representing 40 major foreign investments in the chemical industry of China, whose members’ business covers manufacture, transportation, distribution and disposal of chemicals. 5 of AICM members ranked World Top 10 Enterprises and 28 members stood among World Top 50 Chemical Enterprises. 31 members signed Responsible Care Global Charter initiated by ICCA.
