On 19 May 2024, Partners of Jin Mao Law Firm, Donald Liu and Bill Ho were appointedas Specialist Mediators by Singapore International Mediation Centre (“SIMC”).

SIMC, an independent nonprofit organization, has been committed to meeting the ever-growing commercial needs in Asia since its establishment on November 5, 2014, following the recommendations of a working group convened by Singapore Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon and the Ministry of Law. The Centre aims to transform Singapore into an international hub for commercial mediation. SIMC works across multiple jurisdictions, covering both common and civil law traditions to promote effective dispute resolution through professional case management under SIMC Mediation Rules, capacity building and thought leadership.

China was the first batch of signatories of United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation (“Singapore Convention”) in 2019. Upon the following ratification, Singapore Convention shall enter into force in China. With the increasing signatories of Singapore Convention, it is foreseeable that international commercial mediation is to thrive in a new round. Jin Mao keeps being dedicated to providing legal services in international dispute resolution. Adopting international commercial mediation into specialism will further systemize and internationalize Jin Mao’s dispute resolution services.
