On 30 June 2026, representatives of the ICC International Court of Arbitration visited Jin Mao Law Firm's Shanghai office and exchanged views with Jin Mao lawyers on international commercial arbitration and cross-border dispute resolution. The ICC delegation included Ms Claudia Salomon, President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration; Dr Donna Huang, Director, Arbitration and ADR, North Asia, ICC Dispute Resolution Services and Chief Representative of ICC Shanghai; Ms Vera He, Deputy Director, Arbitration and ADR, North Asia, ICC Dispute Resolution Services; and Dr Anran Zhang, Deputy Director, Arbitration and ADR, North Asia, ICC Dispute Resolution Services.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of ICC arbitration, key changes under the ICC Arbitration Rules 2026, recent trends in international commercial arbitration, case management, arbitrator selection, procedural efficiency, language arrangements, and the use of mediation and other amicable dispute resolution mechanisms. Drawing on the global experience of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, Ms Salomon shared practical observations on enhancing the quality of arbitral proceedings, improving institutional services, responding to practical needs in cross-border dispute resolution, and promoting the development of international dispute resolution.

Exchange session

Jin Mao lawyers shared observations from the firm's foreign-related dispute resolution practice, including dispute prevention in cross-border transactions, drafting of dispute resolution clauses, coordination of arbitration procedures, interim measures, and recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards. The parties also exchanged views on communication between Chinese legal practitioners and international arbitral institutions, the application of international arbitration rules in case management, and ways to further enhance predictability and efficiency in cross-border dispute resolution.

The exchange was practical and open, deepening mutual understanding of international arbitration practice and the needs of China's foreign-related legal services market.
